Central Jersey Elks Chapters to Walk Against Drugs on Saturday

The Walk Out on Drugs will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Park.

Members of the 12 Lodges of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in central New Jersey will be participating in the Walk Out on Drugs at 1 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Park in Piscataway.

According to a release from the New Jersey State Elks Association, the event is meant to raise awareness of drug and alcohol abuse. Funds raised will benefit a February Elks-sponsored student leadership conference Long Branch that trains student leaders on how to discuss drug and alcohol abuse with their peers at their respective high schools.

The walk is open to the public and begins at Grove 1 in the park.Β

The lodges in the central New Jersey district are located in Carteret, Colonia, East Brunswick, Edison, Metuchen, New Brunswick, Piscataway, North Plainfield, South Amboy, South Plainfield, Warren, and Woodbridge, the release said.

Anyone interested in participating or supporting the conference is invited to attend the walk, the release said.
