Letter to the Editor: Support Hush and Fajardo for School Board
New Beginnings For New Brunswick Schools has endorsed Diana Fajardo and Ron Hush in Tuesday's school board elections.
The city of New Brunswick has functioned with an appointed Board of Education for over approximately 20 years. On Nov. 6, 2012, residents of the city decided to take a different approach and move to an elected board. Residents sought to engage new members who could bring a different perspective to the current public education in New Brunswick. The new members would need to be committed to enhancing the academic experience while providing a safe environment conducive to learning.
Ron Hush and Diana Fajardo share a voice for parents and children that express a dedication to the community of New Brunswick while providing the necessary support systems as they strive for success. Mr. Hush has over 20 years of volunteerism experience with many of New Brunswick youth. Moreover, he serves as an example of excellence as an alumnus of New Brunswick High School. As a community representative, Mr. Hush has engaged parents, instructed youth, and operated as an advocate for youth in our city.
Ms. Diana Fajardo volunteers as an advocate for our parents and children as President of the Lord Stirling school PTO. She has also worked at the Puerto Rican Action Board as a para-professional, providing academic support to the participants of the PRAB youth programs. Ms. Fajardo graduated in the top 10 percent of her class; demonstrating that she has a clear understanding of how an education is essential for success.
The goal of this election should be to elect candidates who represent our community, our youth, and our families that use a quality education as a foundation for prosperity. Hush and Fajardo have understood that concept for years; we as a community should give them the opportunity to use their experience to help our youth.
