Local Nonprofits Honored for Contributions to the Arts

New Brunswick City Market, the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission and the Zimmerli Art Museum were recognized on Friday night at Alfa Art Gallery on Church Street.

Three local businesses were honored for their continued support of the New Brunswick Art Scene with original paintings by local artist Vesselin Kourtev.

During a reception at Alfa Art Gallery on Sept. 14, New Brunswick City Market, the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, and the Zimmerli Art Museum were honored for their support of the New Brunswick Art Salon from 2010 through 2012.

According to Pam Stefanek of New Brunswick City Market, the Art Salons are juried programs held twice a year in which a call is put out for local artists to submit their works. Three winners are chosen and given awards for their works.
