Parking Deck Rates to Increase on July 1

New Brunswick Parking Authority Decks will increase in price for both daily and monthly parking.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the base cost to park in New Brunswick Parking Authority decks. It is $2.

Daily and monthly users of New Brunswick parking decks will be paying more to park as of July 1.

Decks run by the New Brunswick Parking Authority will see no more than a 14 percent increase in hourly parking prices, said city spokesman Russell Marchetta.

There will not be a change to the base $2 cost to park in a deck for 0-3 hours, but during the second hour, prices will increase 50 cents, and beyond that, the rate does not increase more than a total of $1, Marchetta said.

Monthly parking rates will increase from $135 to $150 monthly in the Patterson Street, Wolfson, Ferren, New Street and Lower Church Street decks, Marchetta said.

New Brunswick residents who use the decks for monthly parking are eligible to bypass this increase by getting a $15 discount for the year, so the rate stays at $135 he said.

Daily rates were last increased about four years ago, Marchetta said. The increase this time is due to increased costs associated with maintaining the decks, he said.
