The city police department added three new police chaplains Wednesday

 

Three new police chaplains were sworn in today by Police Director Anthony Caputo.

The new chaplains include Pastor Luis Gonzales from the Pentecostal Council Church of God on Commercial Avenue, Msg. Joseph Kerrigan of Sacred Heart Church and Rev. William Riddick of Faith Hope Baptist Church.

They join the roster of chaplains with the police department that already includes Rev. Joseph Hooper of Mount Zion AME Church, Rabbi Bennett Miller of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, Fr. Ramon Nacarino of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Fr. Thomas Odorizzi of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church and Bishop George Seawright of Abundant Life Family Worship Church.

According to a release from the police department, the chaplains volunteer their time to provide spiritual support to police officers during times of duress.
