Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Investigating Two Homicides

Homicides are unrelated, according to Prosecutor's Office spokesman

Two New Brunswick men are dead following shootings, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the two separate incidents.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Oswaldo Lozada, 21, was fatally shot in the area of Louis and Somerset streets at around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Authorities found him on Louis Street after responding to multiple calls to 911 reporting gunshots. He was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at 9:51 the same night, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

The next morning, police were called to Pittman Park on Handy Street, where the body of an unidentified man was found in the park by a passerby who called 911 at 6:46 a.m.

The victim appeared to have died of a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Prosecutor's Office.

The name and age of the victim have not yet been released by the Prosecutor's Office.

No arrests have been made in either of the cases, and investigations continue for both.

They are not believed to be related, according to Jim O'Neill, spokesman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.

Anyone with information on the victim found in Pittman Park is asked to call Detective Weiss of the New Brunswick Police Department at 732-745-5200, or Investigator Daniewicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4018, according to the release.
