Remsen Avenue Car Fire Being Investigated as Possible Arson

No injuries resulted in the quickly extinguished Wednesday afternoon fire.

A fire involving a car and a mattress on Remsen Avenue Wednesday is being investigated as a possible arson, New Brunswick Fire Department Cpt. Jorge Arriaga said.

The fire occurred around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, and was believed to have started in a mattress adjacent to a car in a driveway at 104 Remsen Ave.

The car was also up against a three car garage, but the fire was contained to the vehicle, Arriaga said.

Firefighters arrived quickly on scene and were able to put out the fire with two hose lines, he said.

New Brunswick Engine Companies 1, 11, and 5 and Truck Company 1 responded to the scene, Arriaga said.

No injuries resulted from the fire, he said.
