St. Alban's Episcopal Opens Thrift Shop
The thrift shop is open to the public from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
St. Alban's Episcopal Church has extended their community outreach programs again, this time through the opening of a thrift shop in the church basement.
Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays to the public, the shop is stocked with new or gently used clothing for men, women, children and babies, stacks of children's toys, movies, glassware, artwork and other items.
Store manager James Simmonds said the shop was started after the church hosted a summer garage sale and wanted to continue to offer low-priced goods to the surrounding community.
The shop has been open for about two months, but the community is somewhat unaware of it, he said. Church members leave fliers advertising the shop at local laundromats and the senior center, but they're hoping to get the word out further.
All items in the shop are minimally priced, Simmonds said.
It is staffed entirely by volunteers. Proceeds from the thrift shop are put toward the church's operating budget.
The thrift shop is open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
St. Alban's is located at 148 Lee Ave.
