The Week Ahead in New Brunswick

Happenings in and around New Brunswick the week of Jan. 30 through Feb. 3

 

 

 

Friends' Book Club Meeting, New Brunswick Free Public Library, 60 Livingston Ave.

This monthly book club usually meets on the last Monday of the month. At 1:30 p.m., they will discuss "Caleb's Crossing" by Geraldine Brooks. The meeting is open to all who have read the book and would like to discuss it.

Tuesday

The Billy Test Trio, Tumulty's Pub, 361 George St.

From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., The Billy Test Trio will perform at Tumulty's. Admission is free. A jam session will start at 9:30 p.m. The show is presented by the New Brunswick Jazz Project.

Wednesday

All-State Basketball Winter Basketball Classes, New Brunswick Middle School, 1125 Livingston Ave.

All-State Basketball is a program run and coached by former NBA and college basketball stars, open to boys and girls in grade school through high school.

The session will begin at 6:45 p.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 8 through 11. Wednesday's class is the first of five, and costs a total of $125 for the whole series.

Thursday

New Brunswick High School Girls Varsity Basketball Vs. North Brunswick, New Brunswick High School, 1000 Somerset St.

The lady Zebras take on North Brunswick in a game beginning at 4 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Admission is free.

Friday

Black History Month Celebration at Alfa Art Gallery, 108 Church St.

An opening reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. for a new exhibit featuring the works of seven artists in the theme of Black History Month. Admission is free. The exhibit will be on display Feb. 3 through Feb. 10.
