Welcome back, Patch Blogger!
It's been a year since New Brunswick Patch launched, and in those 365 days, there have been nearly as many stories about all sorts of things in New Brunswick. While we hope that all of that coverage informed, entertained or made you think, arguable some of the stories on the site provoked a much larger reader response, or resonated with the city. Here are a few stories of note that happened in Hub City over the last year: Barry Deloatch - New Brunswick resident Barry Deloatch was shot and killed on Sept. 13, 2011, following a foot pursuit by officers with the New Brunswick Police Department. …
It is truly amazing how quickly a year can fly by. Here at New Brunswick Patch, we have busy days practically every day, covering the news you want to read from around New Brunswick. On the morning of June 17, 2011, New Brunswick Patch went live and started covering all the news we could get our hands on in the Hub City. And in that year we've covered some really great stories, met tons of interesting people and spread the …

The amont of meals served was incorrect in a previous version of this story. Red Keith of New Brunswick, has been coming to the Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen for about five years now. Keith, a volunteer, started off by coming to pick up meals for his sick mother. His involvement with the organization has since expanded to include more volunteer work. Reclining in a chair before the start of evening meal service, …
Hey New Brunswick! Are you ready for Irene? New Brunswick Patch will be updating live all this weekend, especially on Sunday, when the worst of this storm is supposed to hit. But we need your help. Throughout the weekend, we'd like you to send in your thoughts, photos and firsthand reports of what you're seeing in New Brunswick in preparation of and during the storm. Whether the flood waters rise and you have to take a boat to work, or if you're convinced that this storm will turn out to be nothing serious, we want to hear about it. New Brunswick Patch will have a specific area set up on the …
Over the next year, Patch readers will see stories popping up with a similar theme, called "Dispatches - The Changing American Dream". We at Patch will be taking a close look at the changing face of the American Dream, the good and the bad. For every business that closes, dropping stock price or homeowner facing foreclosure, there are also stories of hope and adaptation in the form of local volunteers making a change in their communities or local tax dollars going toward initiatives that residents want. In New Brunswick, despite the downtrod economy, recent unemployment numbers are low. New …
