Good morning, New Brunswick. Today is August 15, a somewhat busy day in history.
On this day in 1945, Emperor Hirohito of Japan took to the radio to announce the surrender of the Japanese to the allied forced, effectively ending WWII.
In 1969, Woodstock opened for the first date of the three-day festival in Bethel, N.Y.
And in 2007, an 8.0 earthquake devastated the South American county of Peru.
What is happening today?
1. The Grease Trucks will move today from their longtime spot in Lot 8 on College Avenue and be dispersed to new spots around New Brunswick. Click here to find out where you will be able to find them.
2. Children ages 3-6 are invited to the New Brunswick Free Public Library at 6 p.m. today for "Math and Science Storytime" to learn about math and science concepts through stories, singing and activities, according to the library. The program will be in both English and Spanish.
3. The NJ Pest Management Association will hold a clinic and trade show beginning at 8:30 a.m. today on Cook Campus.
