The New Jersey Film Festival will present the first installment of the two- part "Jersey Fresh" series -- which features films by New Jersey filmmakers -- this Friday, February 22 at Rutgers University!

Two documentary films will be screened. They include:

The Greater Good: A Hitchhike Perspective - Thomas Francine (Colonia, New Jersey)
Thomas Francine has hitchhiked over 26,000 miles through the U.S. and twelve other countries, often leaving himself vulnerable to crime yet encountering not a single dangerous situation.  This documentary tracks Thomas on his travels, and his meetings with other global hitch-hikers, who discuss their remarkable encounters with complete strangers. 2012; 40 min. With an introduction and Q+A session by director Thomas Francine!

From the 'Burg to the Barrio - Susan Ryan (Bordentown, New Jersey)
From the Burg to the Barrio offers a loving portrait of a New Jersey neighborhood in transition, with all of its tensions and contrasts as differing cultures meet.  Long recognized as the Little Italy of Trenton, New Jersey, famed for its Italian restaurants, bakeries, and groceries, Chambersburg was a well-established working class neighborhood where Italian families lived in close proximity to each other. Today, the ‘Burg still attracts newly-arrived immigrant families, but they are from Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and other Latin American countries. Italian bakeries continue to thrive, but now they operate alongside bodegas and Latino restaurants –and the sharing of food offers a bridge between old and new.  2012; 46 min. With an introduction and Q+A session by director Susan Ryan!
