On Saturday, April 5, 2014, the Rutgers March of Dimes Collegiate Council presented the 3rd Annual Purple Tie Affair March for Babies fundraiser and raised $2,076 for the March of Dimes. The evening consisted of dancing, fine dining, and live entertainment– with all proceeds benefiting March for Babies.
The Rutgers March of Dimes Collegiate Council was founded in 2010 as an organization solely dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the March of Dimes. In just their 5th year supporting the March of Dimes, the council has been able to raise $17,806 since their founding.
The Lincoln Family spoke at the affair, sharing their personal story with prematurity. Patricia Lincoln never thought her first pregnancy would end in a premature birth and having a baby stay in a neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU). As the weeks and months went by, there were many treatments that her baby Kristina received to save her life. When the Lincolns wanted to have another child, information provided by the March of Dimes and their doctors helped them have a subsequent healthy, full-term pregnancy.
