Holiday cheer will be plentiful on Livingston Avenue tonight, Friday, Dec. 7, during the annual Tree Lighting ceremony presented by New Brunswick City Market.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the free, outdoor event at the corner of Livingston Avenue and George Street will feature vendors, refreshments, musical entertainment, a visit from Santa and a chili cook off, featuring offerings from New Brunswick restaurants.
Tasting kits for the chili cookoff are available for $1 each, each including a ballot to vote for the best chili.
Free horse-drawn carriages will pick up passengers outside of the Heldrich and the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick hotels for a tour of downtown New Brunswick, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Additional dates for carriage rides include 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8, 14-15 and 21-22.
