Mayor Tours, Shops New Brunswick Community Farmers Market

Mayor James Cahill toured the New Brunswick Community Farmers Market's Kilmer Square Park location on Wednesday, escorted by market manager Paul Helms.

Helms said the market averages about 400 visitors weekly and peaked at 550 people in the middle of August.

The market also has a new location on Cook Campus, having moved from its previous Jones Avenue spot.

"The nice thing is the availability to a greater breadth of people," Cahill said.

Cahill said the market's Kilmer Square location has also served as a marketing location to get more people tuned into the market's message of fresh, local food.

"They become a part of the delivery of meeting the mission," Cahill said. "I am glad the city is a part of it."
