“First, we request your prayers for our people, our diocese, and the entire Church as we face the days ahead,” Konicki says in a statement posted with his campaign on the GoFundMe site. “May our dear Lord console our grief and give us the grace of His strength. We also ask your generosity in assisting us to rebuild.”

The three-alarm fire began around 1 a.m., and destroyed the church, but didn’t impact any of the surrounding homes, according to mycentraljersey.com.

The church was located at 598 Jacques Street. It has a high Peruvian population, and was set to look to other Peruvian communities for help as well, according to mycentraljersey.com.
