Rutgers Volunteers to Offer Free Tax Help at City Library

Students in the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting and Finance honors society will assist citizens with their tax returns on an appointment basis at the New Brunswick Free Public Library.

Accounting and finance honors students will again be offering free tax returns assistance at the New Brunswick Free Public Library this tax season.

Student volunteers with Beta Alpha Psi, the Accounting and Finance Honors Society at Rutgers University, will help citizens file tax returns online on an appointment basis on Fridays and Saturdays between Feb. 2. and April 13.

According to a press release from the library, appointments will be offered between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. most Fridays and between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. most Saturdays.

Participants are asked to bring photo ID and/or Social Security cards for themselves and their dependents, their W-2 tax forms, records of expenses to declare, and any tax forms or letters received from the government.

To make an appointment, call the library at (732) 745-5108, ext. 25, or visit the library's main desk.

The program is sponsored by the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA), a national program that provides free tax help to the elderly, low income, disabled and limited English speakers, according to the library.
