North Brunswick Furniture Warehouse Fined $71,000 Following OSHA Investigation

The Furniture Exchange in North Brunswick has been cited for numerous unsafe working conditions, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

A North Brunswick furniture business has been cited for numerous unsafe working conditions, totaling nearly $71,000 in fines.

Complete Liquidations, doing business as The Furniture Exchange, has been cited with four repeat and 13 serious labor violations, according to a press release from the U.S. Labor Department. 

The business is located at 2300 Route 1 North in North Brunswick. 

According to the release, the company has been cited for four repeat violations, having been previously cited for the following in June 2012: failure to keep exit paths clear for workers, failure to label dangerous chemicals, failure to provide adequate work space near electrical equipment, and failure to keep spray booths free from storage, resulting in penalties totaling $41,580.

$29,700 in fines were issued for the "serious violations" of failing to maintain an emergency action plan, including the maintenance and use of fire extinguishers, failure to complete a workplace hazard assessment, failure to provide protectional equipment and an eye wash station, failure to train workers about the dangers of the chemicals they were working with, and failure to conduct training and medical evaluations for employees required to use respirators, the release said. 

The company must comply with the citations within 15 days, according to the release.
