White Rose Hamburgers Coming to New Brunswick

The Highland Park hamburger joint is opening a brand-new location on Easton Avenue.

Fans of White Rose Hamburgers' famed burgers have a reason to be glad, as the Highland Park restaurant is opening a brand-new location within New Brunswick.

The greasy spoon, known for its big, onion-topped cheeseburgers, a favorite among the Rutgers crowd, is opening at 43A Easton Ave., in a space previously occupied by a convenience store.

White Rose also serves egg platters and pork roll, chicken sandwiches, fried munchies and mountains of french fries.

Doors will open sometime in the spring, said owner Mike Litos. Currently, he is in the process of securing permits to start construction.

"Easton Avenue has been on my target for a while, (and there was) an opportunity to jump on it." he said.

And, he said, it is convenient for both he and his brother and business partner to take care of the two locations, logistically, with the short distance between them.

The Easton Avenue restaurant will be similar to the Highland Park location with a few additions to the menu that are still in the works, Litos said.

The new location is a little bit bigger and will have seats for about 25 people, but the focus will be on takeout and delivery orders, he said.

Because of the restaurant's local reputation, word of mouth has been spreading news of the new location, Litos said. A banner advertising the new store has only been hung outside the location for about 10 days, Litos said.

"Everybody knows the name," he said.
