Super Fun at the Super Sunday Run!

Start your Super Bowl Sunday party a few hours earlier by participating in the Super Sunday Run....and wear a costume, while you're at it!

When we think of Super Bowl Sunday, we usually think of funny commercials and bottomless bowls of chips.

Now, it's time to think about a Super Sunday Run, too.

On Sunday, February 3rd, Super Hero Events is once again hosting its annual Super Sunday Run.  This year, however, there are three options for East Coast runners: Morristown, Somerville, and Worcester (MA).

So why should you do the Super Sunday Run the morning of the Super Bowl? First off, it's a fun event with 1,100 participants last year--so it's a great pre-party party!  Second, it's nice to get in some exercise before the eating and imbibing begins before the big game.  Third, there is a sweet technical,  long-sleeve t-shirt to the first thousand who register; that's worth the price of admission right there! And finally, it's a fun event for runners of all abilities, especially based on the many costumes runners wear in the race.  In fact, there is actually a "Polar Bear" prize for the runner with the least amount of clothes (but you can't be fully naked, obviously!).

Race Director Heather McDermott is excited about the Super Sunday Run growing into a regional race this year, as she hopes to expand it into a nation-wide race in 2014.  She also emphasized that much of the proceeds go to two charities: the Morristown soup kitchen, and HARK, a non-profit that supports ALS and Girls on the Run.

The Super Sunday Run is one race of nine in the RRCA-NJ Grand Prix called "Run to Restore the Shore."  Races were selected based on their commitment to donate money, per finisher, to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation. Any runner who runs any six of the nine races win a commemorative, oversized "I Ran to Restore the Shore" medal.
