Pallone Statement on President's FY 2015 Budget

WASHINGTON, D. C.—Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) issued the following statement today upon the release of President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2015 Budget:

“President Obama’s FY 2015 Budget outlines a path for our nation to grow our economy, create new opportunities for hard working Americans and ensure fiscal responsibility.  I am pleased that the president’s budget has a strong focus on job creation by encouraging manufacturing, one of the bright spots in our economy, as well as expanding research and innovation and making investments in infrastructure.

“The president’s budget lays out a plan to expand opportunities for the middle class and those working to join it by building on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), investing in new education and job training programs, and calling on Congress to increase the minimum wage and extend unemployment insurance to the long-term unemployed.  Prominently featured in his budget is President Obama’s call for improved fiscal responsibility by building on the savings established through the Affordable Care Act and ending tax disparities that unfairly favor the wealthiest Americans over the middle class.

“I was particularly pleased to see the president touch on his Climate Action Plan to cut carbon pollution.  Combating climate change is not only critical to protecting our safety and environment, it will help ensure economic growth and prevent expensive damage caused by increasing severe weather events like Superstorm Sandy.

“Budgets are statements of our values as a nation, and the president’s budget creates a roadmap for a stronger and more equitable economy while maintaining our safety and national security.  It is my hope that items laid out in the president’s budget receive full consideration in the House and that Congress works together to achieve these common sense goals.”
