Highland Park to Host Monday Night Vigil for Newtown Victims

The vigil will be at the corner of Route 27 and South Adelaide Avenue in Highland Park.

The Borough of Highland Park has organized a candlelight vigil for 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, Dec. 17, in remembrance of the victims of the school shooting on Friday that left 27 people dead, 20 of them children.

The vigil will be held at the corner of Route 27 and South Adelaide Avenue in Highland Park. Anyone who attends is asked to bring a white candle to hold.

“Our nation is hurting right now as our thoughts and prayers go out to the families, friends, and neighbors of those lives taken so senselessly last week in Newtown,” said Highland Park Mayor Gary Minkoff, in a prepared statement. “On Monday, we can come together as a community and solemnly reflect on this
tragedy."
