Man Reportedly Seen Leaving Murder Scene Saturday Night

A male suspect was seen fleeing the scene of a fatal shooting Saturday night, The Daily Record and WCBS-TV report.

Police are investigating the shooting death of Eduardo Mendez, 19, of New Brunswick, on Talmadge Street Saturday night.

The Daily Record reported the man spotted fleeing the scene wore a blue shirt and blue cap. WCBS-TV didn't provide a description of the man.

Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and New Brunswick Police Department Director Anthony A. Caputo didn't mention a man seen at the scene when announcing the investigation via email Sunday evening, and made no mention of any suspects being taken into custody.

Police discovered Eduardo Mendez outside a home on the 200 block of Talmadge Street in New Brunswick at 8:11 p.m. Saturday after being dispatched to the scene, according to Carey.

Mendez died at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at 8:49Β the same night, Carey said.

The results of the Middlesex County Medical Examiner's Office's autopsy weren't immediately available.

The investigation by Det. Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office is active and continuing, but no arrests have been made, Carey said.
