Democrats believe they are within spitting distance of securing enough support to override a veto of same-sex marriage legislation if Gov. Chris Christie chooses not to support it. State Sen. Raymond Lesniak, one of the bill's sponsors, estimated the chamber had between 24 and 27 supporters for legislation to allow for same-sex marriage in New Jersey. [Wall Street Journal]

A complaint filed Thursday  on two counts of sexual exploitation of a 5-year-old girl. Mahoney allegedly abused the girl on multiple occasions and streamed footage of the sexual assault over the Internet, according to New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman and Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department's Criminal Division.

A new law gives individual school districts the ability to not only  to the November ballot, but also pass budgets without voter approval. Supporters of the legislation, signed by Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday, say this move is related to low voter turnout in the April elections.
