Art After Hours: First Wednesdays

Art After Hours invites the Rutgers community and the general public to engage in a multifaceted approach to the arts on the first Wednesday evening of most months.

Explore recent history through the eyes of Russian and Soviet nonconformist artists. The event spotlights “Leonid Sokov: Ironic Objects” with a curator-led exhibition tour and opportunity to meet the artist, a stand-up comedy performance by Rutgers alumnus Ben Rosenfeld, and a screening of the documentary “From Gulag to Glasnost: The Art of Resistance.” This program is presented in conjunction with the new exhibitionLeonid Sokov: Ironic Objects,” the first major United States solo exhibition for Sokov (born 1941), one of the leading figures in Soviet underground and Russian-American contemporary art. Seasonal specials in the Museum Store and complimentary light refreshments are also available. Free to Rutgers students, faculty, staff, and Zimmerli members (with valid ID). $6 general admission.
