Muslim Groups to Hand out Meat on Friday

Families in New Brunswick are invited to a meat distribution event at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at the Second Reformed Church, 100 College Ave., hosted by ICNA Relief USA and the Social Services department of the Rutgers University Muslim Students Association.

The charity event is in light of the holiday of Eid-ul-Adha, according to a press release from ICNA Relief USA.

In the past, the meat has gone to people outside the United States, but this year, the organization chose to donate it to people closer to home, according to the release.

"Meat is expensive and many New Jersey residents can’t afford this luxury," ICNA Relief USA member Azeem Khan was quoted as saying in the release. "We hope that this distribution will make the holiday season a little bit easier for some families."

100 bags of meat are to be given out on a first come, first served basis, according to organizers.
