Bouncer Stabbed In Dispute at Mi Tierra Bar

A Somerset man was arrested following an alleged dispute outside of the Jersey Avenue bar.

A bouncer at Mi Tierra Bar on Jersey Avenue was stabbed in the hand Saturday night, following a dispute with a bar patron, police say.

Cpt. J.T. Miller of New Brunswick Police said that around 7 p.m. Saturday, reports came in that the bar bouncer had allegedly been stabbed in the hand by a patron following a dispute.

After police arrived at the bar, located at 14 Jersey Ave. near French Street, the suspect bolted, resulting in a short foot chase and his apprehension, Miller said.

Jonathan Cismeros, 22, of Somerset was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of weapon for unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Miller said.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and treated in the emergency room, Miller said.

He is currently jailed at Middlesex County Jail in North Brunswick with a set bail of $35,000.
