Chasing NJ reports that the New Jersey bail system is broken and more and more people can’t afford to get out of jail.

A state Supreme Court Committee has recommended historic changes to the broken bail system, prospectively cutting the pretrial defendant population in half and saving taxpayers money, according to Chasing NJ on My9.

One person currently stuck in the bail system is Aakash Dalal, a former Rutgers student who is being held in Bergen County Jail on $4 million bail for his role in firebombing a synagogue 2 years ago, according to the report.
