Man Stabbed Sunday Morning on Bayard Street

The victim was not seriously injured, police say.

A verbal argument between two New Brunswick men early Sunday morning turned into a violent fight, police say.

The altercation occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday on Bayard Street near French Street, resulting in a 31-year-old New Brunswick man being stabbed in the upper back, according to Cpt. J.T. Miller of the New Brunswick Police Department.

21-year-old Raul Quiroz, of New Brunswick, has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Miller said.

Miller said both men were on scene when police arrived and both were intoxicated and uncooperative.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and treated for the stab wound.

Quiroz was jailed at the Middlesex County jail in North Brunswick. His bail is unknown.
