Middlesex County Sheriff's Office Accepting Applications for Civilian Academy

The nine week program will train civilian volunteers in activities and duties of Sheriff's Office staff.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications from county residents for its nine week Sheriff’s Civilian Academy.

Beginning in September, the academy will train participants in the various tasks and duties of the Sheriff's Office, including K-9 use, SWAT, Courts and Foreclosures, Defensive Tactics, and Composite Demo, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. 

The program will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 20 through the middle of November. The program will be held at the Middlesex County Police Training Center at North Patrol Road in Edison.

A graduation ceremony will be held on Nov. 15.

The deadline to apply is August 15.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in Middlesex County, have no felony convictions, can not be wanted for any crime and must submit to a limited background check, the release said.
