Suspect Arrested in Prostitution House Shooting

Kevin Rivera has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Townsend Street house that police say is known for prostitution.

A New Brunswick man has been charged in the shooting of a city man at a Townsend Street house with an illicit past.

Kevin Rivera, 23, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of Manuel Raymos-Hernandez on Dec. 9.

According to police, Raymos-Hernandez opened the door to the house, located at 301 Townsend St., and was shot in the chest by an assailant.

Rivera was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to a release from the New Brunswick Police Department.

An investigation showed that Rivera has a "past relationship" with the residents of 301 Townsend St., the release said.

301 Townsend St. was one of three addresses in New Brunswick raided by authorities in 2011, resulting in a total of 16 prostitution-related arrests, according to an article on NJ.com.
