Photo Gallery: Dr. Seuss Day at A.C. Redshaw Elementary School

March 2 is the birthday of famed children's author Dr. Seuss, and is recognized as Read Across America Day.

Green eggs and ham were had, the Lorax spoke for the trees and Horton heard a who at A.C. Redshaw school on Friday during an all-day celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday, also recognized as Read Across America day.

Students from New Brunswick High School performed skits and read to the students as part of the annual reading awareness day.

The kindergarten classes dined on green eggs and ham and Maria Verra's fifth grade class performed Seuss's "The Lorax" for their first and fourth grade classmates.

Mayor James Cahill even made an appearance to read "Daisy Head Mayzie" to fourth grade bilingual students.

Organizing teacher Gatana Swercheck said the school also planned on staging "Read Around Redshaw" in which all students and teachers will form a chain around the school, each holding a book and reading silently.
