New Brunswick High School Basketball Teams Open Season With Close Losses

The boys fell to North Brunswick, 55-43, while the girls dropped a 29-20 decision to North Brunswick.

The winter sports season began Friday night, and the New Brunswick High School basketball teams opened with a pair of close losses.

The New Brunswick High School boys’ basketball team was competitive throughout the game, but a shutout in the second quarter ultimately doomed the Zebras in their season-opening 55-43 loss to North Brunswick at home on Friday, according to nj.com.

Nadier Whitten led the way with a game-high 14 points, followed by Juwan Haney with 12.

New Brunswick held an 11-9 lead after the first quarter, but a 14-0 second quarter in favor of North Brunswick put the Zebras in a hole they were never able to recover from.

Each team scored 32 points in the second half.

New Brunswick is 0-1 and returns to the court Jan. 4 at home against Edison.
