NFL Stars to Return to New Brunswick for Basketball Game

Some of the biggest names to come out of New Brunswick and Rutgers University will return to the Hub City on Friday night for a celebrity basketball game.

Ten Rutgers University football players who are currently playing in the NFL will be at New Brunswick High School  for the game, which begins at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15.

The Celebrity Team will include the following players, according to Mike Blackwell, Director of New Brunswick Recreation:

• Brandon Bing
• Pat Brown
• Andrew DePaola
• Waliyy Dixon
• Brian Leonard
• Antonio Lowery
• Ron Girault
• Kevin Malast
• Devin McCourty
• Mohamed Sanu
• Tiquan Underwood
• Jamaal Westerman
• Jeremy Zuttah

The Celebrity Team will play against the City All-Stars, which is a roster of four teams each playing one quarter each. They consist of New Brunswick teachers, firefighters, recreation department players and NJ Special Olympics players.

All students who recently made honor roll were given two free tickets to attend the game, Blackwell said.

The Celebrity Team players will sign free autographs during half-time, Blackwell said. 

Tickets are $5.

The event is sponsored by New Brunswick Recreation, New Brunswick Rotary, Johnson & Johnson, Buist Inc. Saint Peters University Hospital, and New Millennium Bank.

Editor's note: On March 15, the 2014 FIFA World Cup Winner's Trophy will also be on display at New Brunswick High School, between the hours of 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Residents are invited to come down and take free photos with the trophy and Fuleco, the World Cup Brazil mascot.
