Sanu Tosses Touchdown Pass in Bengals Win

Rutgers University's Mohamed Sanu threw a 73-yard touchdown pass on the opening play of the Cincinnati Bengals 38-31 over the 38-31 Washington Redskins.

When the Cincinnati Bengals selected Rutgers University star wide receiver Mohamed Sanu in the third round of April's NFL Draft, they were hoping for him to continue his prowess catching the football.

However, in Sunday's 38-31 Bengals victory over the Washington Redskins, it was Sanu's arm that got the attention. On the first play from scrimmage, the Bengals lined up in the Wildcat formation with Sanu at quarterback and starting QB Andy Dalton at receiver. With a load of experience  the Redskins defense moved up to defend Sanu running the ball.

Sanu would then show of the arm that made him a star quarterback at South Brunswick High School, lofting a picture perfect 73-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green for the first touchdown of any kind in his NFL career.

"I was supposed to throw the ball as far as I could throw," Sanu told Sports Illustrated's Peter King after the game. "I knew I could put it right on him."

(threw for roughly 900 yards his junior year), was a great runner (ran for about 700 yards his junior year), and was a top-rated safety.

While Sanu's pro career as a wide receiver has gotten off to a slow start as he has yet to record his first NFL reception, the former Viking showed off on Sunday that he can make a play whenever he gets the ball in his hands.

"Mohamed had a perfect passer rating and he could not have put it any better," Dalton told ESPN's John Clayton.

The Bengals will again be in action against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
