Three Arrested in Talmadge Street Homicide

Eduardo Mendez was fatally shot on July 13 in New Brunswick.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old New Brunswick man on July 13.

According to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, Edwin Morales, 20 and Danilo Lemus-Ramos, 18, both of New Brunswick, and Adrian Islas, 25 of North Brunswick were arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a handgun.

They were arrested in connection with the death of Eduardo Mendez, 19, of New Brunswick, who was found wounded by police outside of a house in the 200 block of Talmadge Street just before 8:15 p.m. July 13.

He was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at 8:49 that same night, according to the release. 

Morales was arrested in New Brunswick on July 14 and was held on charges filed in an unrelated case, according to the release, who Lemus-Ramos was arrested in Elizabeth and Islas in arrested in North Brunswick on Thursday.

Lemur-Ramos is jailed on $2 million bail and Morales and Islas are jailed on $1.75 million bail each, according to the release.  

“Since this senseless murder occurred on Saturday, members of the New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office have worked carefully, diligently and tirelessly to solve this case and I commend the efforts of all involved," said Acting Prosecutor Andrew Carey, in a prepared statement.
