New Brunswick Restaurant Week To Feature 23 Local Restaurants

New Brunswick City Market will kick off Restaurant Week with a poker-themed pub crawl.

Whether you are an adventurous foodie, or you survive on a college student’s budget, the 3rd Annual New Brunswick Restaurant Week is the ideal opportunity to take advantage of all the city’s cuisine offerings.

The two-week culinary celebration will feature discounts at 23 local restaurants, beginning on Saturday, July 14.

“Restaurant week provides each participating restaurant the opportunity to create their own dining special that reflects the individuality of their restaurant, while providing diners with an opportunity to sample restaurants that they may not otherwise try, at an attractive price point,” said Pamela Stefanek, Executive Director of New Brunswick City Market.

City Market will kick off the program on Friday, July 13, with a “Poker Crawl.” During the city-wide pub crawl, attendees will pick a playing card at each destination, creating their best possible poker hand to present at the end of the crawl. Participants may stop by seven establishments, including Tumulty’s Pub and Mike's Courtside Sports Bar & Grill, for a chance to win door prizes at their final destination.

During the two weeks, New Brunswick restaurateurs will be serving up selections of prix-fixe menus, as well as lunch and dinner specials so visitors can explore the diverse cuisine of New Brunswick.

Area martini lovers know that when happy hour rolls around, it’s time to head to Clydz for their half off drinks and $5 appetizers special. But thanks to Restaurant Week, the party doesn’t have to stop at 7 p.m. During non-happy-hour hours, the New American style bar and restaurant is offering 25 percent off patrons’ total checks with the purchase of at least one food item.

“We participate in the Restaurant Week program because we also view it as a customer appreciation week,” said Cassandra Perjesy, general manager at Clydz. “Not only is it a great chance to reach out to new customers, but it is also an opportunity to treat the valued customers we already have.”

Diners looking to impress their dates or clients on a budget can take advantage of The Frog and Peach’s prix-fixe menus. A 3-course lunch prix-fixe meal costs $19 and includes such options as a black truffle ricotta gnocchi appetizer, a grilled hanger steak entrée, and coconut flan for desert.

“Everybody is hitting the beaches in the hot months, and people don’t usually think about coming to New Brunswick to dine in the summertime, and this is a great way to promote New Brunswick,” said Anthony Panico, co-owner of Panico’s Restaurant and Panico’s Brick Oven Pizza. Both the restaurant and the pizzeria will offer 10 percent off the food portion of the bill for dine-in patrons.
